And the Mets have been winning… so I’m kinda/sorta afraid to start again. The team’s bats have looked alive and short of the near explosion in Philly the pitching staff has looked solid.

That said: Nick Evans? Not to rag on the guy too much but if his last outing proved anything it was that he wasn’t nearly ready for prime-time. Why wouldn’t they give Mike Carp or Val Pascucci a look? The Mets’ Blogsphere is obsessed with Pascucci. The Stache is less obsessed… the same blogosphere that rags on the Mets for sticking with Fernando Tatis because he’s mostly a minor league player who seems to be hitting well at the moment really, really wants to see a guy who’s been nothing but a career minor league but is totally going to find his stroke at 30 in the Major Leagues. We think Carp probably would have been a better option than Evans. Why not give a new guy a look if you’re not planning on keeping him up all season. Even if it was Pascucci it would accomplish two things. 1) You’d get a look at a guy other than Evans. We know where Evans is as this level. We don’t know where the other two are. 2) Pascucci could either sink or swim and the blogs could stop talking about him constantly.

All that said: Alou’s gone for the season; who’s ready for some Bonds’ rumors? Let’s start one.
