There will be plenty of people who say this loss is on David Wright for making a costly error that left the door open for the home run. That’s partially true. If he makes the play, the inning is over, and King Felix hits a home run with no one on base.
I could buy that if it wasn’t a pitcher at the plate.
Johan Santana HAS to get that out. There’s no excuse. Before tonight, Felix Hernandez had taken 4 at-bats and had 1 hit. One!! If the ace of your staff can’t a clutch out against the opposing team’s pitcher — an AL pitcher, mind you — then it’s time to be sellers at the deadline.
