Let’s be honest… the Mets didn’t acquire Trot Nixon for cash and bushel of bats for his skill at the plate. Trot’s been on the standard “over 30 decline” for the last few years.
Trot Nixon
- Career: .275/.364/.466
- 2005 (BOS): .275/.357/.446
- 2006 (BOS): .268/.373/.394
- 2007 (CLE): .251/.342/.336
- 2008 (Tuscon, PCL, minors): .309/.437/.558
Not really impressive… any time your OBP is less than your SLG that’s kind of a problem. That can’t be worse than what the Mets are already getting, right?
Turns out, the Mets replacement corner outfielders are, well, terrible.
- Endy Chavez (ExEZZ): .222/.270/.282
- Damion Easley: .245/.287/.321
- Marlon Anderson: .159/.185/.238
- Fernando Tatis (ExEZZ): .232/.267/.321
- Nick Evans: .174/.208/.304
- Chris Aguila: .167/.167/.167
So, yeah. Cash and a player to be named? Bring him in.
