Ugh.

Metsblog is reporting (and Jon Heyman via Mike and the Mad Dog is confirming) that Omar is considering a change at manager and coaches which is frustrating to no end. Obviously a team that is falling apart at the seams because no one can hit and the bullpen can’t get the job done should change the manager. Word on the street is the Mets are planning on replacing Willie, Rick Peterson, and Hojo.

Rick Peterson? Really? The guy who did such a good job with Ollie and Maine that other teams won’t trade pitchers to us anymore? That guy?

It’s so frustrating to watch this team try to hold back a collapsing dam with a band-aid. If Omar fire the manager, I will guarantee you that he will be gone by the end of the season. If you’re going to put the entire focus of failure on management, and you change the manager and nothing happens, then the only one left to blame is Omar. In fact, I completely agree with this quote:

This morning on WFAN, host Craig Carton suggested that, not only should the Mets keep Randolph, but they should extend his contract – thus sending a signal to the team’s players stating, “You have no choice but to get your act together.”

If this happens, Omar’s done at the end of the year. Home we have a good candidate for 2009. Congratulations, guys. Way to completely miss the problem. How about realizing that you now have a glut of players who don’t give a sh*t? If they fire all three coaches this season, I think I’m done.
