I wouldn’t say that I loved the way this past weekend went. I really wanted to take 3-4 against the Yankees. I figured, at the very worst, we were going to win Ollie’s game and Johan’s game and was hoping to split the doubleheader.
As it turns out… Johan couldn’t get it done.
I thought [...]

I’d like to say that the loss to the Mariners disturbs me, but it doesn’t. I’ve watched another team do this for years. The New York Giants have a terrible tendency to play down to their competition. The Mets seem to do that now. They got shut out by the worst [...]

There will be plenty of people who say this loss is on David Wright for making a costly error that left the door open for the home run. That’s partially true. If he makes the play, the inning is over, and King Felix hits a home run with no one on base.

In addition to random IM arguments about the Mets, I’m also on a mailing list about sports and other topics. Today’s conversation.
Chuck (Yankees): Again everyone perceives me as a Met hater, but honestly I want them to make the World Series and lose to the Yankees.

Remember two days ago when I said that the media would quickly move on to find a new storyline now that Willie was gone? Turns out, they did — Tom Bernazard.
Gotham Baseball has printed a report showing the intrigue and shenanigans that go on in the Mets front office. The account is kind [...]

I think Omar Minaya took a bold step.
Omar was right. The management cloud over the organization was getting ridiculous. It was hanging over the players, dominating the media, and was a daily distraction. Today Minaya took steps to remove that distraction.
To his peril.
Now that the manager has been removed the daily distraction [...]

Has anyone asked Billy Wagner if he’ll be subsidizing some of Willie Randolph’s remaining salary considering he’s pretty much the sole reason Randolph doesn’t have a job right now?
